Policy Discussion on Importance of Public Diplomacy for the Kyrgyz Republic

On 26 June 2023, a policy discussion on "Winning Hearts and Minds Abroad: Public Diplomacy and why it is important for the Kyrgyz Republic" was held at the OSCE Academy. The event was conducted as part of the three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme, "Institutional Change and Social Practice: Research on the Political System, Economy, and Society in Central Asia and Caucasus," jointly run by Bielefeld University and TU Dortmund University and supported by the Volkswagen Foundation. The policy discussion served as the closing event for Dr. Aijan Sharshenova’s fellowship at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek.

Along with Dr. Sharshenova, Prof. Erman Akıllı, Chief Editor of the OSCE Academy, who is also a Professor at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, took part in the event as a discussant. They covered the theory and practice of public diplomacy, with a focus on the implementation of public diplomacy in Eurasia and its role as a foreign policy and nation-branding instrument.
