The OSCE Academy welcomes New Director

7 February, 2024

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is delighted to welcome its newly appointed Director Dr. Kate E Walker. Prior to joining the OSCE Academy team, she served as a senior education and training expert for diplomatic academies, foreign ministries, and international organizations, including the OSCE and EU. She was also engaged part-time at the University of Vienna from March 2018 to January 2024 where she taught courses on negotiation and research skills.

From 2013-2017, Dr. Walker served in leadership roles for the British Council. She was responsible for facilitating and developing international partnerships between education and research organizations. Earlier roles in UK universities focused on admissions and widening access to higher education among under-represented groups.

Dr. Walker is a graduate of the University of Sheffield (PhD, MA) and the University of Edinburgh (MA [Hons]). Her research portfolio focuses on two areas: governments’ use of music and dance to achieve named foreign policy objectives, and the role of arts-based pedagogies in advancing critical thinking skills among students and practitioners of diplomacy.
