Students Discuss the Security Challenges in the Middle East and North Africa with Experts from NCCT and Bulan Institute

On 31 October 2024, the OSCE Academy welcomed Mr. Noufal Abboud, a Director of the Nordic Centre for Conflict Transformation (NCCT) in Sweden and Dr. Cholpon Orozobekova, Director of the Bulan Institute in Switzerland. Mr. Abboud delivered a guest lecture on the topic “Security Challenges in the Middle East and North Africa; Threat of Terrorism and Regional Policies to Prevent and Counter” to MA students of Politics and Security Programme. The lecture is a part of the framework of the Re-orient project which Bulan Institute joined and funded by the NCCT to facilitate the exchange between Morocco and Kyrgyzstan on good practices of prevention of extremism, rehabilitation and reintegration of former extremists and returnees.

Prior to the lecture, the distinguished guests met Dr. Indira Satarkulova, Deputy Director of the OSCE Academy, and Ms. Victoria Orazova, Head of the International Department, to discuss the possibilities for collaboration between the two institutions.
