Teaching Vacancies for Summer School Programme

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is a public foundation, created in 2002 between the Kyrgyz Government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE Academy promotes principles and values of the OSCE through post-graduate education, professional trainings and intellectual exchange. Its highly demanding MA Programmes in the fields of “Economic Governance and Development” and “Politicsand Security (Central Asia)” annually enrol up to 60 young professionals from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, on a competitive basis.

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is looking for several short-term Lecturers for its four-week long Summer School programme. The Summer School is designed for newly accepted MA students of the OSCE Academy as a preparatory programme as well as for other eligible applicants from the region.

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is looking for Lecturers for the following 2-credit courses:

- Introduction to Research Methods in Social Science,
- Mathematics for Economists,
- Probability Theory and Statistics,
- Academic Writing and Honesty (4 vacancies).

Teaching will be conducted between 5 August 2019 and 30 August 2019, pending the availability of funding.
The position will be based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

These courses are expected to be taught as introductory graduate level courses. Specific course duties as well
as course design should be further discussed with the academic management of the OSCE Academy once

- MA degree, preferably PhD degree in Social Sciences / Economics / Linguistics or a related field;
- Relevant teaching experience;
- Excellent command of academic English;
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

The OSCE Academy will provide/cover:
- 1270 – 1550 EUR / credit as gross salary. Final amount depending on interview results;
- Visa and work permit support;
- Office space and computer, as well as access to all facilities of the OSCE Academy.

NOTE: The Academy will not cover transport, accommodation, health insurance and expenses of family
members. The Academy, however, assists with all issues related to travelling to Bishkek and finding housing
in the city.

- Results of past student evaluations (if available).
