Oral History Research Projects

The OSCE Academy has conducted two oral history studies, "Oral History of Independent Tajikistan", focusing on the Civil War 1992-1997 and

"Oral History of Independent Kyrgyzstan" that reflects the experiences of the population and elites in the course of transition in the late 1980s-1990s.

The collection of interviews took place in Tajikistan in 2007-2008 and in Kyrgyzstan in 2010.

Both databases are available to the interested publics and intended for scholarly research primarily.

At the moment "Oral History of Independent Kyrgyzstan" is available online (edited transcripts only) and also at the OSCE Academy (audio files).

"Oral History of Independent Tajikistan" is available at the OSCE Academy as audio files as the process of transcription is continuing.
