Students learn about OSCE/ODIHR Election Monitoring Mission

On 18 April DAAD Visiting professor at the OSCE Academy, Prof. Dr. Anja Mihr, delivered a lecture to students of the MA programmes and the Academy’s staff on the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission to the first round of the Ukrainian presidential elections, held on 31 March 2019, and shared with her personal experience as member of the International short-term Election Observation Mission. Dr. Mihr spoke about the process of the selection of observers, the election monitoring system, the long-term and short-term observers, the observers’ specific obligations and the reporting procedures. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, where participants asked about the voting process; possible violations during the voting; counting and tabulating processes; finally students inquired about chances to become an observer in International Election Observation Missions.
