On 13 October the OSCE Academy had the honor of welcoming Dr. Moheb Spinghar, Director of the Institute of Diplomacy, MFA of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, who came to Bishkek to sign the Agreement between the OSCE Academy and the Institute of Diplomacy. The agreement will allow the Academy graduates from Afghanistan to intern at the Institute. Under the previous Agreement, signed on 28 May 2012, four alumni from Afghanistan had successfully completed three-month internships at the Ministry.

The occasion was also used to invite Dr. Spinghar to deliver a public lecture on “Afghanistan and Central Asia at a Glance: from Policy to Practice” within the framework of the Annual Regional Security/Alumni Conference “Central Asian Security: Factors of Fragility, Sources of Resilience” and also to meet Academy students and alumni from Afghanistan.

The OSCE Academy has agreements with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, and with the Agency for Investment Promotion and Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic. The purpose of the Programme is to give alumni of the Academy valuable work experience in the public service of their home countries and thus to contribute with it to shape their future career choices.
