OSCE Academy hosts a workshop on "Public Service Delivery in Central Asia"

Policy workshop on "Public Service Delivery in Central Asia: the Case of Transport Sector in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan", organized by Central Asian Development Institute (CADI) and supported by GDN (Global Development Network) and OSI (Open Society Institute), was held on February 7, 2013 at OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The main objective of the policy workshop was to present a two-year research project titled "Effective Governance Perspectives in Central Asia: the Case of Transport Sector in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan" to the representatives of research, public and governmental institutions. The findings were actively discussed and well-received by the participants. In particular, invited public officials and experts were actively engaged in discussion of the research results and regional integration in transport which is a very important issue on the agenda of countries of the region. Participants mentioned that learning about transport sector in the neighbouring countries was a great asset of the workshop.

In a similar manner, participants came to consent about the high scarcity and necessity of this kind of research projects in the region. The participants noted the importance of inter-regional dialogue and discussion of common issues in the transport sector to promote effective governance in Central Asian states and prospects of regional integration as a whole.
