| News21-24 November 2011 - Training "Accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan".November 24, 2011 21-24 November 2011 - Training "Accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan". The OSCE Academy in Bishkek jointly with the National Institute of Strategic Studies launched 4- day training "Accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan" for Kyrgyz Government officials. The main purpose of the training is to enhance the capacity of the higher civil service in creating and conducting a Kyrgyz international trade policy, in view of the prospective accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Customs Union. 20 participants of the training are civil servants from the Ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, who will be directly involved in the accession negotiations. "This training is conducted by leading practitioners of international trade law and focuses on a key issue for Kyrgyzstan - the accession to the Customs Union. The training is designed for a large group of officials from agencies directly involved in trade negotiations and deals with the practice of international and regional trade regimes and of trade negotiations, in particular compatibility between regional arrangements and the WTO. We expect this to have a lasting impact on the capacity of the Kyrgyz government in the formulation and execution of the country's trade policy", - said Dr. Maxim Ryabkov, Director of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek Trainers: Paul-Henri Ravier , Senior Counsellor at Cour des Comptes - Paris (France), Former Deputy Director of WTO (1999-2002). Paul-Henri Ravier has served for more than twenty years in various positions in the French Department of Trade, within the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. Since 1991, he has been Deputy-Secretary of this Department, which represents France in the relevant committees in the EU, and in the multilateral trade negotiations, formerly in the GATT, and subsequently in the WTO. In his position as Deputy-Secretary of the Trade Department since 1991, Mr. Ravier has participated in, and managed, negotiating teams in a number of trade negotiations dealing with settlement of trade disputes, definition and conduct of export promotion strategies, and management of trade finance schemes Christian Pitschas ,Partner, MSBH Bernzen Sonntag Rechtsanwälte; Direktor, WTI Advisors Ltd. (Switzerland). He has particular experience in the areas of agriculture, SPS, TBT, NTBs, trade facilitation, subsidies/state aid and government/public procurement. Furthermore, he advises on issues of public international law. Christian has fifteen years of professional experience, including positions as a trade lawyer with a major international law firm in Brussels, lecturer in EU and public international law at the Free University of Berlin and clerk with the Court of Appeals in Berlin.
