3-7 December 2007, the OSCE Academy held Media conference for five days.

 

It brought together OSCE Academy journalism training's most successful alumni, as well as media experts, owners and managers, plus representatives of international and non-governmental organizations active in media support (OSCE Center in Bishkek, Internews, Soros and Eurasia Foundation).

 

Participants represented print and electronic, private and public media outlets from all Central Asian republics except Turkmenistan. 

Following topics were presented and discussed during the conference:

- results and lessons learnt during the OSCE Academy annual journalism training program;

- journalism training - experience of Internews, OSCE and Soros Foundation; 

- public TV and radio; 

- legal and normative frameworks for media in CA.

 

OSCE Academy training alumni also presented their views on CA journalism's needs and problems.  They worked in groups to provide their feedback on the future structure, aims and content of the OSCE Academy's training in journalism.
