The OSCE Academy hosted three day seminar on international religious freedom standards
The United States Agency for International Development, Central Asia Republics Mission (USAID/CAR), through its Participant Training Program implemented by the Academy for Educational Development (AED) organized three one-day seminars on international religious freedom standards in Bishkek from 14 to 16 June, 2006.
Seminars were conducted by Professor Cole Durham, Professor of Law and Director of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. Professor Durham is also a member of the OSCE Advisory Group of Experts on Freedom of Religion and Belief. He has extensive experience in the legal systems of former Soviet countries.
Three one-day seminars each targeted at one of the following three groups:
1. Members of parliament or their staffers, relevant specialists from the Ombudsman office and the Kyrgyz State Agency on Religion – on June 14, 2006
2. Lawyers, law professors and human rights groups - on June 15, 2006
3. Law students and street law volunteers - on June 16, 2006
