17-20 January, 2007, OSCE Academy hosted a Follow Up / Project Planning Workshop on Human Rights and Capasity Building in Central Asia.
Since fall 2005, Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI) has conducted four regional human rights training courses in cooperation with the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. About 100 participants from all five Central Asian countries received human rights training developed by RWI. Participants represented regional NGOs, human rights and governmental institutions, media and academics. This follow up workshop provided a forum to discuss and evaluate trainings conducted, provide lectures on topics requested by participants and identify appropriate future activities and implementation strategies related to human rights training. Another objective of the Project Planning Workshop is to contribute to the capacity building for Central Asia and raising awareness in the field of human rights. RWI and the OSCE Academy hope for future development of training programmes jointly with local researchers and participants.
